This Saturday, February 17, 2018 (7:06 PM Pacific) Chivas de Guadalajara will host Pachuca at the Estadio Akron for a game in the eighth round of matches in the Liga MX Clausura 2018. Both teams are currently living in different moments from one another but the game still has potential to be an entertaining clash.
Chivas de Guadalajara was the most disappointing team in the Apertura 2017 tournament and is staying consistent with that this season. Los Rojiblancos only have five points in this Clausura 2018 and are coming off a 2-2 draw with Queretaro. Chivas’ performance against Los Gallos Blancos was not impressive by any means as it took a goal in stoppage time by Alan Pulido to salvage the point from the match. Alan Pulido seems to be finding his form once again as he now has four goals this season but his team is still struggling. Matias Almeyda’s side is yet to win at home in this tournament and it seems unlikely that it will get a favorable result from this encounter.
Pachuca also had a disappointing Apertura 2017 tournament but is off to a decent start in this Clausura 2018 with 10 points from seven games. Los Tuzos are coming off an impressive 2-0 win against Club Tijuana at home and have now not conceded in their last two games. This will not be an easy game by any standards but it is a very winnable match for Diego Alonso’s team against an inconsistent Chivas team. Diego Alonso has been giving opportunities for young Mexican players to start like Alexis Pena and Erick Sanchez and this will also be a duel between two of the Liga MX teams that use much more Mexican-born players than other teams.
